Gok Wan, Sydney Shop Girl would die if you came around and re-invented my wardrobe and took me shopping. Please?!?!

Gok Wan is probably the best thing to have happened to Foxtel.  He is a natural in front of the camera and he puts everyone he works with at ease – the ‘normal’ people, the stylists, the celebrities.  He also has a real flair with fashion – he makes clothes work for real people with real budgets and isn’t afraid about being brutally obejctive about the couture end of the market too.

After looking things up on Wiki, I realise I have discovered the Gok Wan body of work in reverse.  I first started watching Gok in his series about childhood obesity, Too Fat Too Young (which is one of his most recent projects).  His personal recollections of a childhood defined and scarred by obesity was pretty intense.  Love the way that sentence came out – the first 3/4 are okay and then I went and ended with the words ‘pretty’ and ‘intense’ together.  Nice.

Then I moved on to How To Look Good Naked. Carson (of the US version) and he have a slightly different on air persona and I actually like them both.

And now I have discovered Gok’s Fashion Fix.  This is my favourite series.  I like the range of each episode – high street v designer, road testing shoes and clothes, revamping a wardrobe, visiting a celeb wardrobe.  Gok is a genius in the high street fashion makeover stakes.

I have tried to friend Gok on facebook without success.  Ah well, a girl can hope.
