Slow cooker Sunday, raindrops on leaves - is it really summer in Sydney?

What a wet and miserable weekend in Sydney.  I took advantage of one of the fine breaks of the day to go for a run, felt great to be out in the fresh air.  I love that scent when it's just rained.

The creek where I run is usually barely a trickle of water.  This morning it was comparatively bursting at the banks.
It's Sunday, it's a go slow weekend.  What better way to explore this them then to get out my slow cooker to make one of my favourite childhood meals.  Japanese golden curry.  I first ate it at Mr Samurai, a Japanese fast food institution in Perth.  Perfect for this weather and the slow cooker always makes sure the beef is tender.  I love that slow cookers transform the cheapest cuts of meat into healthy, flavoursome meals.  Today I was going all out, I browned the meat before starting the slow cooker.  The house is now fragrant with the smell of a good dinner.

The routines of the weekend that help me feel rested for the week ahead.

  1. Ahh we were just tlaking about Japanese curry the other day. Those packs are great for a fast meal (although I'm just going to pretend I didn't look at the ingredients list hehe) ;)

  2. Ooooh I've always looked at those packets in the asian supermarkets but I've never been game enough to try it out. Your pics look good so I may have to try it.

How long does it take to cook?

  3. I use a slow cooker, so I get everything ready and it cooks over 6 - 8 hours. The good thing is coming home form work and having dinner mostly ready when you walk in the door.
