Fraus, Melbourne.

As I mentioned yesterday, Carly and I caught up in Melbourne on Sunday and managed to squeeze an incredible amount of chatter, good food and of course shopping into a few short hours.  The time sped by.  I'm a bit down at leaving Melbourne so soon but am glad that I had such a wonderful time with old and not so old friends.

Carly has filled you in already about what we got up to but I thought I'd share my photos too.  Our first stop was Fraus in North Melbourne for brunch.

In our excitement at finally meeting and my excitement at how eclectic the decor at Fraus is, Carly and I completely forgot to take a photo together.  This photo of our hot chocolates will have to do.  Don't you love the European style wide cups and saucers that they are served in?

Carly had on original dark hot chocolate (left) and I had the tiramisu flavour (right).
We decided to have a savoury brunch.  The choices of filling for the galettes all sounded delicious and we risked food envy by ordering two different kinds.

Behind the main counter sit 3 chocolate dispensers.

I ordered the 3 cheese version that came with bread sticks and a well made salad of greens, raisins, cranberries and a light balsamic glaze.  So.  Good.

This is Carly and her galette.  She ordered the savoury special which featured smoked salmon, egg and asparagus.  I really loved Carly's outfit - you can just see the navy dress with bird print.

I couldn't get the whole wall display in my photo but it's a mural made of boxes of tea and it spells out Fraus and also features a red love heart.

Fraus also sells chocolates and baked goods.  The muffins looked delicious but we were both so full from our galettes and hot chocolates.  Next time.

The shops down the road beckoned and they were only the first stop on our shopping expedition.

But before we left, I couldn't resist taking a photo of the recycled upholstery on our chairs.

  4. Helloooooo! I am still here. It looks like you are having a lovely time in Melbs. I hope you weren't doing this street-beating on Friday (the weather was horrid).
