Dancing Juice, Staying Alive and Things That Happened In Between.

Well, the good news is, there's only one more day of dressing sensibly for work before the weekend.

Sweater - Juicy Couture (worth the splurge on cashmere, it's still going strong 7 years later), skirt - TM Lewin, tank - Big W, necklace - Audrey by Red Phoenix Emporium

It's been a long week.

But the sun is out and I've got an infectious pop song on my mind, on my iPod and in this post.

I do remember first hearing the Glee version months ago but Bruno Mars' rendition has really taken hold of my ears.  It's so kitsch, so of the moment and so happy!  It brings a smile to my face every time I hear it.  It takes me back to my late teenage years when the lyrics would have been more than a song, they would have been just plain common sense.

It’s a beautiful night,
We’re looking for something dumb to do.
Hey baby,
I think I wanna marry you.

Is it the look in your eyes,
Or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares baby,
I think I wanna marry you.

Oh those crazy late teenaged years.  When the lunches were invariably calorific and carb laden.  When love was one sided, fleeting and incredibly complicated.

In this mid thirties life of mine, hot chips or bread rolls with gravy from the ref at uni have been replaced by wonder foods packed full of anti-oxidants, vitamins and essential trace elements.  I have to admit, the fresh stuff does look better too.

Having an infectious pop melody in one's head can make a girl do all sorts of crazy things in the middle of winter.  Why don't you see what Bruno Mars can do for you and play the youTube clip on this post whilst you surf the net this evening.  Just don't go near the Net A Porter site.  There's a sale on.....

Like wearing leather and yellow together.  I got the sweater dress from Zara in Sydney when it first opened - remember those crazy days?  Anyway, the line for the changerooms was nuts so I just bought what looked like it would fit when I put the hanger in front of me in front a crowded store mirror.  Problem was the bottom half of the mirror was obscured by someone else doing the same thing so I didn't realize the dress was a bit short.  Never mind, that's what full length boots are for.  To avert wardrobe malfunctions.

Jacket and dress - Zara, necklace - Limoncello by Red Phoenix Emporium.

I was feeling perky and indefatigable.  So much so that the supermarket shop was a snap.   I even found a jar of coffee that promised me a trip to Fiji.

And the Australian Womens' Weekly with the wrap around cover of Kate and William.

Well actually, the real reason I bought the magazine because I have a genuine interest in finding out just who this Justin Bieber person really is.

I guess I won't be reading the 'WHY SUGAR IS MAKING YOU OLD' (block caps in context) article.  I got the Kit Kats at the service station on the way home.  It was an impulse buy.  It's hard not to do weird things whilst you try not to look suspicious when you're in line with a pair of police officers and you're dressed in a weird combo of yoga gear, dressy boots and a winter coat and scarf.

Snacking on Oreos whilst planning healthy dinners for the week bears an irony I did consider but only briefly.

While I was at it, I couldn't resist this month's Super Food Ideas and its slow cooker feature as well as a whole range of free form pie recipes.  That's right.  No pie tin lining skills necessary.

I know that most of you dear readers do not come here for community service announcements.  I'm a bit behind the times in not having seen any part of Go Back To Where You Came From but I will try to get around to it before I write my post commemorating (!!) the first anniversary of the Day Mr Rudd Got Knifed and Australia Got Her First Female Prime Minister which is due tomorrow by my calculations.  The two are rather closely linked.

However.  Have you seen this clip of Ken Jeong (of Mr Chow in The Hangover fame, amongst many other things) talking about CPR?  It was featured on mamamia today.

More music to make you smile but with a message all of us must remember.

Have a lovely evening and hang in there because you know what day tomorrow is.

  1. I think I need the slow cooker Super Food Ideas.

Love the necklace with the yellow beads.

  2. I find it interesting how interested I get in the intricacies of other people's lives.

I definitely agree that healthier, more colorful food is a lot more appealing than brown fried carbs ever look.

Congrats on being the same size and able to fit in that cashmere sweater 7 years later, I feel like I fluctuate every week!

I love the CPR commercial! Disco saves lives

  3. AFW: I'm eagerly waiting for how slow cooker cooking goes in the country.

Bug and Bird: Disco does indeed save lives.

  4. I do the whole healthy now (and I've got almost two decades on you) but sometimes nothing works like a bag of fries.

And I didn't listen to Bruno Mars yet but I have been listening to Lady Gaga's Born This Way every day for a week. That's weird, right? I'm old enough to be her mother but that song makes me feel happy and strong!

  5. Oh SSG you've reminded me that I haven't seen my JC cashmere hoodie since we moved! I wonder which box it might be in lol.

  6. oooh, love that leather jacket. Is that a Sydney Zara purchase? I still haven't been - don't get into the city much these days ;-)

  7. Catherine: the Gaga is timeless.

Heavenly Ingredients: I got it in Malaysia a couple of years back.
