ASOS Review. Further Thoughts On Garnier's Blemish Balm.

Call it beginner's luck but my first ASOS order was an unqualified success. Every dress fit as it should and I was pleasantly suprised at the quality of each dress.  I'm around 167cm tall and the dress lengths in the regular sized ASOS items was perfect.  I ordered my regular UK clothing size and if anything, the cut is a little generous.  Just to recap, the 2 strapless dresses worked out to be under $50 AUD each (on sale) whilst the checked dress was full price at $82 AUD.  Shipping was free and my order arrived 9 days after I placed it (ordered on a Saturday).  The best thing about the delivery is that I didn't need to be home to sign for it or go the my local post office before 5pm to pick it up.  Can't wait for the proposed changes Australia Post are making to their parcel service.

Both strapless dresses had boning at the bust so they fit well and don't look like they're in any danger of falling down at an awkward moment.  I was really impressed with the quality of the fabrics and how accurate the website photos were for each dress.  For a local reference, Forever New would be the brand that comes to mind is an equivalent.  Prices are getting pretty steep at FN at the moment...
I'm thinking of wearing the white dress to a wedding in November.  The one at the winery.  I might even get away with wearing flats or wedges under the dress.  Sinking heel crisis on vineyard lawns averted for under $50!

The checked dress will be perfect for work with a cardigan.  It falls below the knee and is so comfortable.

Cindy wanted was interested in an update as to how I've been going with Garnier's Miracle Skin Perfector

I'm still liking it.  It lasts all day and gives my skin a hint of colour.  It doesn't feel heavy either.  I usually use it with Garnier's tinted roll on eye cream.  For more coverage and a matte finish, I've been using MAC Studio Fix over the top.  I don't recommend trying another mineal based product (like MAC's Mineralize Skin Finish) over the top because it ends up emphasizing pores.  For the record, I love the Mineralize range too.  I use it over tinted moisturizers mainly.

How about a Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector versus Invisible Zinc's Tinted Daywear comparison?  IZ's product is pretty heavy and dries to a bit of a shine rather than glow.  I usually have to wear a powder over the top with it.  Their stick foundation is lovely but a little light for me so I use it as a highlighter.  Garnier's product is more sheer and has a nicer finish on its own.

I am still curious about Chantecaille's Just Skin though.  I don't think I'll ever be perfectly content with any one tinted moisturizer.  But I have promised myself to use up these two first before hitting Mecca Cosmetica again.

  1. Lovely dresses! I like ASOS too, I ordered a couple of dresses from them this summer and I agree that the fit is slightly generous - which is a lot better than the opposite! Can't wait to try on the skin perfector from Garnier:)

  7. Thanks for posting your review on the Garnier BB Cream, I will definitely have a look into it but I rarely wear makeup as I am too lazy to take it off at the end of the day haha

I also love the one shoulder strap dress and think it would be perfect for a winery wedding :)

  8. Sorry I just wanted to also ask, how do you figure out your UK dress size? I've been tempted to order from ASOS for a long time but was scared that the clothes wouldn't fit when they arrived...

  10. Am carrying on trying out the Garnier BB as it was on offer here in UK (and prob. half the price I could have bought it in Oz) and have to say it's growning on me. Looks good and skin seems 'evened out' if you know what I mean. That said I LOVE, Love, LOVE my Chantecaille real skin tinted moisturiser though and would not be without this. Need to stock up on another tube before I return to Oz.! XX

  12. I love ASOS. I have to try to pretend it doesn't exist because every time I browse I find things I want.

I've found their sizing to be very accurate, which means I often have to take in the bust, but that is because I'm a pear not because there is anything wrong with the sizes.

I'm still too scared to order shoes though, I find it hard to pick out good ones when I'm looking at them, I don't think I will be online shopping shoes for awhile.

  16. Oh wow, that white dress is absolutely beautiful. I'm always scared to buy dresses online as I'm such a weird fit, but I may have to break my rule for that one! xx

  17. Garnier uses nano-technology in all their products that contain SPF. Do not use ANY of their products with SPF, and consult any make up you buy with the "Skin Deep" website.
Here is the quide for sunscreens that contain nano-particles: http://nano.foe.org.au/sites/default/files/Safe%20Sunscreen%20Guide%202011-12%20colour.pdf
