Monday Night Mimosas.

I'm pretty sure my driveway is not meant to look like this on the last Monday before Christmas.  The lawn is fine but it's the rain I'm worrying about.  Will it ever end?  It's just not right driving home under grey skies whilst Christmas carols play on the radio.

Once I got safely indoors, kicked off my shoes and flung my bag on the sofa, all bets were off.  It might be a  Monday and I might have 4 more days of work ahead of me, but I've also survived the last 8 in a row.  Readers, if this isn't the night to be downing Mimosas, then I don't know when else would be more appropriate.

With the bleak skies outside, it's more important than usual to make sure you're getting your vitamins and citrus quota.  What could be more nutritious than a lime wedge and some grapefruit juice ...

to top up a glass 3/4 filled with sparkling wine?

I felt much perkier after my Mimosa.  I was even inspired to make a stir fry for dinner and drag out the slow cooker for tomorrow's dinner.  There we go again.  Another winter reference.  A slow cooked dinner in summer.  What is the world coming to?

Shift - Red Phoenix Emporium, tights - Cotton On, necklaces - Coco and Faux Fuchsia Leo by Red Phoenix Emporium.
On a happier note, I'm so excited that Willow and Lotus have just launched their Red Phoenix Emporium Pop Collection.

I wish I were there in person for the launch in Brisbane but I dressed up all the same over here in Sydney.  In nearly head to toe RPE.  Can't wait to place an order for the new season.  I've never met a RPE shift that I've ever had to iron.

Before I finish up for the evening, I'd like to thank you all for the positive reaction to my Christmas post.  It was incredibly kind of you all to both read and comment on what wasn't exactly the cheeriest festive season reflection.  I do feel better for sharing those thoughts here on the blog and can only hope that next Christmas will be different in a happier way.

I was also feeling reckless on the weekend and changed the look of the blog for a bit.  It is rather sleek but also a little impersonal.  I miss the colour, the twitter feed, the blog list and comments columns.  A little of the soul of the blog (you, the readers) got lost in the translation.  Don't worry, you'll all be back for the new year.  Along with a giveaway or two to give 2012 the start it deserves.

Take care and have a lovely evening.  I'm off to start The Hunger Games.   Not the eating disorder but a series of books that my twitter friend T recommended.  Just the thing for this weather.

  1. Mimosas, what a great way to get your citrus intake up! I hope the weather clears for you guys.

Apologies, but I usually skim the fashion elements of your blog, though it is very well researched and written :) and I really love the food and photography as you know, though did I spot a sea master on your wrist?

Hang in there for your final third of your work shift!

  2. Ahh, Mimosas! I think I'll be having one with my Christmas breakfast:) Or maybe as dessert.....

  3. The blog is looking very stylish.... And the mimosas look fantastic.

Hope you have a great evening.

  4. Head-to-toe RPE!! So proud right now :) You look amazing. Our launch party was so lovely but unfortunately website not quite done. If I ever utter the words 'website re-development' EVER again please slap me. But I PROMISE it will be back in 2012!! And to celebrate we will most certainly be doing an official SSG-RPE giveaway so get ready everyone! Thanks for all your lovely support this year, it means everything to us as a small business making our way in the fashion industry.

    Lots of Love

  5. I wish you the best in your last 4 days of work. I have three more and have begun the countdown! Also, my laptop/browser/whatever doesn't seem to like the mosaic view so I had to switch over to the classic view. In mosaic view posts were being cut off and I couldn't seem to figure out a way to keep scrolling through to the end of the post.
    Enjoy a mimosa for me!

  6. I love a good Mimosa. Second only to a Bellini in my book.

I can't work out if it feels like Christmas or not. The cold weather is quite festive in it's own way but I miss the nice warm days. Then again if it was hot I'd be complaining about the sweltering heat. You can't win.

Enjoy your last few days at work!

    K xx

  7. Mmmm, pink grapefruit mimosa, sounds delicious.

The new look for the blog is very slick, reminds my that I must update mine, but I do miss the twitter feed and the other things you mentioned. Can't wait to see how it ends up.

Hope those last few days of work pass in no time!

  8. MMM Mimosa. I think I'll have to imbibe in one for happy hour this evening. Or a Tuesday Tom Collins.

Head to toe RPE - looking fab! Isn't the new collection gorgeous? I wanted to go to the launch, but unfortunately my ill health had other plans.

Only three more days to go now!

    TDM xx

  9. I hope you're feeling better now TDM, Christmas is so close!

Enjoy those Tom Collins - plural.

  13. L!
It's been an absolute pleasure. You've all taught me to embrace colour like never before. Best of luck with the future growth of RPE and I am so chuffed to be part of it.

  15. Thanks for the positive thoughts, Sean.

Yes, it's a Seamaster. My days would be disorientated without it. The date is easy to read as is the second hand.
