First up tonight, thank you to everyone who's given me great food and shopping ideas for London. It's only a matter of weeks before I'm meant to be flying out and now that you've given me places to be, I can concentrate on the big issues like whether I'll need wellies and whether I should buy them here before I go.
Compared to the rest of Australia, the weather has been rather cool and pleasant. We even had rain today and it looks as if it's not going anywhere in a hurry. Even on Australia Day. So maybe a pair of mock croc Hunter for Jimmy Choo wellies isn't as insane an idea as it sounds. The only problem is where to source? Any tips would be great. Just leave me a comment. Thank you.
I received my copy of the Taronga Zoo wall calendar with the Sunday paper and I have to say, those Sumatran tiger cubs do not have a bad angle amongst them.

The triplets have the cover and my good friend Mi Goreng is Mr August.
I could pick him in a crowd any day and I've even labelled the cover photo for your reference.
Nothing much exciting's happening in my world at the moment. Except that I whipped out my Ralph Lauren furls this morning. The furl bracelet was the inspiration for today's Hamptons in the workplace outfit. There wasn't actually that much to inspire, all I needed to do was put on the dress and some pearl studs but it's quality not quantity.
I'm going to spend this evening in the 80s. Young Talent Time is back and the first episode is being repeated on Channel 7 tonight. Are you liking it? I must admit, the bit I'm most looking forward to is the final song, All My Lovin' being sung by Millsy. I have such affection for the song, I was hoping to add a clip of the Johnny Young version from YouTube but spookily, none of them seem to be working at the moment.

I used to be OBSESSED with Young Talent Time when I was little. On my 5th birthday I requested that we watch Young Talent Time and eat Chinese food. We did both. Good memories, good memories.
ReplyDeleteJean Brown in Bris stock Hunter. They are online. Good luck with packing prep for London will be tough! L xx
ReplyDeleteI watched YTT on Sunday on Channel 10 it was lots of fun and I have to give a plug to Homeland it was FANTASTIC. Claire Danes is superb.

I have a challenge for you SSG. Online shopping for men. There has been mass decluttering in my manor. Finally got the Mr to throw out clothes which have lived in boxes for three years. Also clothes he has NEVER worn, with tags. My brother scored well out of it. Now he wants some treats, t-shirts and shirts. Suggestions, aside for ASOS?
ReplyDeleteSo. I have a friend who is an air hostess for Qantas. She mules the goods back from LA for us. Are you interested in establishing a London franchise?
ReplyDeleteI need to send you that email. Bad Kitty...

For Hunters there is a cheap UK eBay store called something like Country Attire. Free shipping and half the Oz price...
ReplyDeleteIts certainly raining cats and dogs in London today if that info helps your wellie buying decision. Love your outfit - very elegant! xxx
ReplyDeleteI got my Hunters at Countryattire.com and can absolutely recommend. Great prices and free shipping to us here in Australia. But will they arrive in time? I'm also not sure they stock the Jimmy Choo ones unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to recommend the Tea Room at Liberty's of London. It's absolutely my favourite place in London- the store itself is fantastic and they have delicious scones and tea :) The Burlington Arcade is also a brilliant place to stroll, window show and shop (if you're feeling particularly flush with cash that day!). One entrance is just near Fortnum and Masons (also great) and they have a Laduree macaroon store which really seals the deal for me!
If you're narrowing down your tourist exploits I'd say the Tower of London is a must- go on one of the beef-eaters tours if you can, they're informative and often funny too!
Have a brilliant time! London is absolutely my favourite place to visit.
I'm jealous of your Sydney weather too- Melbourne is stiflingly hot!

Oooh, baby tigers, so cute. Love your outfit, very nice. I vote yes on the wellies (no idea where to get them) but anything which will keep your feet dry and that you can wear big fat warm socks under gets my vote for travelling in colder climates.
ReplyDeleteBicester Village near Oxford for shopping - it's just like the outlets in Hawaii! I was there over Xmas the the Jimmy Choo Hunters were over half price. The stores and brands there are quite amazing (although I stuck with the Brit and European brands as the US ones were cheaper in the US) just be sure to get there early before the tourist buses get there

ReplyDeleteYou're a legend. Thanks for reminding me of Bicester Village. It's on the list.

I am bringing my Explorer socks, Lisa. Just in case they don't have them in London. I reckon they'd be perfect in wellies.

Thank you, Audrey. That's all the enablement I need.

ReplyDeleteI wish I could help. I have been trying to coerce Mr SSG to develop a rapport with Mr Porter and he has been very resistant. Having said this, Banana Republic has gone down quite well with Mr SSG. Zara is also good.

Thank you India. I am curious to see how Claire is going in Homeland. Will check it out.

ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the perfect 5th birthday. Did you have fried wontons with fluorescent red sauce?
