Building Bridges. A Marinade Recipe. The Colour Compromise.

Good morning, everyone!

This is another one of those crazy crack of dawn posts.  This seems to be the best time of the day for my laptop, you see.  It’s been creaking along with a very loud shushing noise for the last couple of weeks and I’ve still not made it to the Mac store to get it sorted out.  It’s going to happen next weekend.  Rain or shine, I’m going to be down at that glass fronted store and begging a Genius to breathe new life into my relatively new MacBook.

I’m really taking to this going slow business.  So much so that I’ve even developed a dodgy back to really make sure I can’t move beyond the speed of a sprightly 80 year old with a pick up frame.

The only thing that’s worked for the pain this weekend has been the bridge pose.  For the time that I’m in the pose and for a good 15 minutes afterward, I’m pain free.  The down side is that the only things I can multi task with the bridge pose is talking to Mr SSG and fast forwarding the ads on Foxtel iQ (at a pinch).  Use of my Kindle or iPhone are not supported by the bridge pose.  Perhaps I do need to find a heat pack today.

In the spirit of taking it easy, I’ve discovered a quick honey and soy marinade recipe.  It tastes so much better than the pre made sauces from the supermarket.  All you need is 1/3 cup honey, 2 tablespoons of soya sauce and of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and a clove or two of crushed garlic.  After combing these together in a glass bowl, allow your chicken to marinate for at least half an hour.

When sung a grill, the marinade can burn quickly so keep your slices of chicken on the thin side so that it cooks before it burns.  In my book, if you have one weekend dinner that’s as healthy as this, you get a leave pass for the rest of the weekend’s meals.  It is such a quick recipe though, that it will come in very handy during the week.

Fashion wise, this season seems to be all about colour.  I was writing the other day about how I had made peace with the fact that coloured denim skinnies are a trend that I’m just going to have to sit out.  It is exciting though, that for once colour will be key this winter.  The over 35s compromise?  Stick to colour on your top half.

I think the washing machine cycle has ended.  So has the dishwasher cycle.  The day is officially starting.

Before I go, a bit of shameless self promotion.
