And just like that, it's the last afternoon of the long weekend. The beauty of weekends this long is that you can flit in and out of weekend mode when it suits (or if you're rostered on for work a day here and there) and still feel reasonably rested by the time the official start to the working week rolls around. Heading back to a 4 day working week also eases the pain a little.
I started Easter Sunday with my favourite breakfast and Sunday magazine columnist, Chrissie Swan. Chrissie also co-hosts a drive time radio programme which, unfortunately, I often miss because it's timed for the school pick up rather than the peak hour. Thankfully, catching her new Sunday column is a much easier task. What I enjoy most about Chrissie's take on life is that she tempers honesty and frankness with an approachable writing style. I'm with her as she recounts the warts and all dramas of life as a mother, a partner and a career woman. It's writing that's inclusive of women at all stages of life - whether they have children or not and whether they're in a relationship or not. I often come away from reading her column with a smile and food for thought to tide me over until her next column.
The weekend has also been about schlepping around in my favourite jeans of the moment, my dark wash flares from NextDirect. They've stretched a bit around the waist which is always good for the tail end of the Easter long weekend.
It was rather chilly this morning. The first time I've had to wear a sweater this weekend. Same jeans, different day.
With regard to weekend footwear, it was goodbye Birkenstocks and hello fun canvas flats.
Mr SSG and I were in the city this morning for some Sooooo related business. We're in with an odds on chance and that thought alone has made this a very special Easter for us both. It's early days and we won't know for certain if we've been successful for another couple of weeks. So watch this space.
In the meantime, I'm going to make my cruelly low daily caffeine limit count by making my daily coffee something special. Starting today with this Max Brenner dark chocolate mocha.
After all the hot cross buns I've eaten this weekend, these brussel sprouts were a sight for sore eyes. I'm going to be cooking them for dinner tonight with a curry and some basmati rice. I've both washed and pre soaked my basmati and the rice cooking gurus of the internet have convinced me that this preparation will result in impossibly white and fluffy grains.
Hope you've all had a restful break as well! Take care and talk soon.

Dear SSG, so glad you have an odds on chance :) My everything is crossed for you xx
ReplyDeleteAs for Chrissie Swan - honestly, I am not too keen on most of the columnists in the Sunday papers, but she is my favourite. She does write with warmth and honesty. Leaves me feeling happy after I've read her columns too.
Dear Sidney Shop Girl,
ReplyDeletethank you for mentioning Chrissie Swan - I like such columnists that depict everyday life from a funny angle, so I will look her up. Happy Easter!
I love brussel sprouts! And Sooooo news. Wishing you good things!!!!! L xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so hopeful for you both. Could you be in the infamous two week wait? That kind of anticipatory, torturous wait that has whole websites dedicated to it... Good luck, and may you be blessed with the ability to not obsess about it like I did Suzxxx
ReplyDeleteLove the flats, so cute! And the brussels, too - must incorporate some into our dinner regime soon.
