An Oil Change. Maternal America.

There aren’t that many jobs around the house that I look forward to each week.  However, I do make an exception for sorting empty plastic and glass containers for the recycling bin.

Unlike the stove top or the dining table, I’m a stickler for spotless when it comes to my empties.  I rinse thoroughly in hot, soapy water and then I let them dry out on the kitchen bench before I get to pitch them into the yellow recycling bin.  Bottles that don’t need a soaking get a wipe down with some paper towel.  Looking at all those empty containers gives me a (probably false) sense of my being a careful consumer who uses every last drop of everything she buys and endeavours to create less waste.

With my Bio Oil empty safely in the recycling bin, it’s been time for a belly oil change.  A few regular readers, including S wrote to me recently to suggest I give organic rosehip oil a try.

So I got myself to Priceline and bought this economy bottle of Trilogy’s famous organic rosehip oil.  I love that it loves both my face and my body, to paraphrase the Trilogy packaging.

I’ve been using rosehip for my face over winter and didn’t realize that there is some evidence for its benefit to other areas of the body.  The trilogy web page has this data from a recent small trial that was independently conducted using their rosehip oil for stretchmarks.

Fridays are denim days for me.  After a long and tiring week, wearing jeans to work on Friday eases the pain of actually having to be at work on a Friday.

1300 PREGGY – I love it!!!!!

Today’s denim find is courtesy of Q who was there with words of comfort and a plan B when Shopbop had inconveniently sold out of black Mama J’s in my size.  The alternative, she said, was Maternal America’s black skinny leg jeans which I bought from Queen Bee, an Australian maternity fashion etailer who have the fastest shipping and customer service known to hormonal pregnant women.

My order arrived 2 days after I placed it.

Maternal America skinnies retail for $149.95 in Australia.  Which is steep but not as bad as J Brand et al which are currently close to double this.

Complete with useful care instructions for those of us new to the world of maternity denim.

As an aside, why is no one here surprised that I didn’t stop at ordering the one pair of skinnies in black.  Somehow, the classic wash Maternal America skinny also found its way into my order.

And this handy, reusable and most importantly pink draw string bag.

My order also came with a little gift of Queen Bee sticky notes.  It’s Friday night and I’m too lazy to photograph them,  Sorry!!!!

To paraphrase (and channel) the wise Faux Fuchsia, I am loving those skinny jeans sick.

Embracing Zhanel (Chanel by way of Zara) and good grooming.  Cardi – Zara London, black ls top – Witchery, necklaces – Red Phoenix Emporium.

Not that you can really tell from this photo but I was pleasantly surprised by how ‘non maternity’ the Maternal America jeans look.

If you’re not in the market for maternity gear, this paragraph may bore you.  Unlike some other denim brands, the Maternal America waistband is very firm and rigidly sewn into the denim part of the jeans.  So there’s no danger of your jeans falling down on you.  Also, because of the solid make, there’s less chance of you ripping the fabric apart at the seams.  I found that my pair stretched during the day but still kept their shape with no unfortunate sagging.  They’re pretty much denim Spanx without the ‘how do I go to the bathroom?’ issue.  I see myself wearing these in what Isabella Oliver tactfully calls ‘the fourth trimester’.

Well, that’s it from me this evening.  I hope you have a lovely weekend.  I know I will, after I get a good sleep tonight.  Mr SSG has just come home with a pizza and I just have to help him with it.

Take care!
