Baby News and Baby Blue Skies.

I just knew that there was a reason for Kate’s new hair the other week.

Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the news today that they’re expecting their first child.  As a William and Kate tragic, I’ve been tracking the story all day on the news and online.  You can count on me to be the first in line at Coles for the announcement issues of the weekly magazines.  It’s taken about a year and half but finally, their cover lines will speak the truth!!!!!  I wonder just how they’re going to each generate enough conjecture to fill an entire magazine issue from 2 paragraphs worth of news.

The new announcement has even touched the world beyond gossip journalism.  Prime Ministers and Presidents have offered their congratulations, The Wall Street Journal has put the news on its front page with a gallery of Royal babies.  The fiscal cliff the American economy faces, the end (finally) of our toxic Parliament for the year and the retirement of an Australian cricketer have, for now, been relegated to the lesser pages and time slots for the major media outlets.

Personally, I’m pondering all that fabulous maternity fashion we’re going to be seeing the Duchess sporting over the next little while.  I wonder if she’ll be wearing any of my favourites?

On a more serious note, I hope that Kate isn’t stricken with severe morning sickness for the rest of her pregnancy and that she can get discharged from hospital as soon as possible.  I don’t think those hospital beds and drips are pleasant for anyone.

The weather is glorious here in Sydney today.  There’s endless blue skies, no humidity and a gentle breeze.  It was a lovely drive home from my swim with the gentle sun on my arms.

The summer feeling continued with a cous cous salad for lunch.

Was it really so wet and dreary yesterday that I had to have a cup of hot ‘honey lemon’ with lunch at a Hong Barbecue restaurant?

I’ve finally seen the light and gotten on the iPad bandwagon.  Couch time is now complete with both it and the Foxtel remote at my disposal.  Not to mention my Kindle and iPhone.  I don’t think I’ve got enough hands or pairs of eyes to make full use of all of them at any given moment but it’s nice to have choices, isn’t it?

If you’re in Queensland right now, do take care in the heat!  Otherwise, enjoy the cool change wherever you may be.
