Rainy Day Daiso Purchases.

I think I jinxed Sydney with that beach post on Friday. Sorry.

I hope you managed to have a good weekend all the same.
The basement of Westfield Sydney viewed from above. I think this is a cafe. I love the clothesline!
The rain and grey skies on Sunday were all the excuse I needed to find refuge at the shops. I was in Chinatown to run some errands so a side trip to Daiso was obviously necessary. As I climbed the steep marble steps to the entrance, I thought back to the last time I visited. It was Christmas last year and I was heavily pregnant with Baby SSG. I’m amazed we made it up the stairs to be honest.
The year has gone by so quickly and here we are planning his first Christmas and picking up his first passport photo (the Chinatown errand). The photo turned out well, except for Baby SSG’s extremely stern and suspicious look. Even the stoic owner of the place where the photograph was taken was a little concerned that Baby SSG didn’t look ‘happy enough’. So he very patiently danced around with a stuffed Winnie the Pooh, trying to coax a bit of laughter from Baby SSG. It just wasn’t meant to be.
It must be an interesting job processing children’s passports at the Australian Passport Office. How can you not crack a smile as you arrange photos of stern looking little ones onto the front page of passports.
As usual, my trip to Daiso yielded some interesting and useful finds.  Everything cost $2.80 per item.
Homer Simpson would have loved these donuts.
All you need to do is wind your earphone cable around the centre of the donut and clip the cable into the notches of the holder.  And voila, no tangled cables around your neck.
I’ve tried out this pair of soap sponges over the weekend and they really work.  The idea is that you place them under a bar of soap in the shower or by the sink.  The sponges keep the soap dry and also keep your soap dish clean.  The sponges just need to be squeezed under some running water to clean them.
Baby SSG has inherited his mother’s crazy hair.  The super soft baby brush I bought when he was born lasted a couple of months with his locks.  He doesn’t sit still long enough for me to run a comb systematically through it either.  I was this close to buying him his own Mason Pearson brush but managed to talk myself out of it.  This mini brush seems to be doing the trick.
On the home front, I’ve been busy with my second favourite spray on agent (after Windex).  I’ve WD-40’ed the creaky bits on the Hills hoist and hopefully it’ll be whizzing around when the clear skies return.  In some crazy symbolism, I got back into yoga this weekend too – just 10 minutes on my own at home each morning.  Talk about stiff and creaky.  I think it’s going to take a bit more than a spritz of WD-40 to get me back to my former glory.
