Moments.

On the one hand it’s rush, rush, rush at this time of the year as you run around tidying things up for the end of the year whilst making arrangements for a stress free Christmas (because it will be stress free this year, it will be…).

But on the other, there’s a lot to be said for embracing stillness and just being in the moment for a while, under the fairy lights and amongst the tinsel and snow globes.  I was having one of those moments yesterday as I made myself a steaming mug of loose leaf tea.  I was sipping T2’s French Early Grey and imagining myself to be somewhere in the lavender in Provence.
Managed to do my eyes without my contacts in this morning.  Finally mastered the use of a mascara wand in my left hand.
I gave my eyes a little holiday from contact lenses today.  I know, I know, it’s all about LASIK for severely short sighted people like me but it all sounds a bit too scary for me.  Similarly, I’m meant to be getting some laser to other parts of my face but it’s all too much stress.  I’m not great with post procedure down time either.  Anyway, I like how my glasses help keep the sides of my up do in place.
Necklace wise, I fished out my original Faux Fuchsia necklace.  It has served me well and goes with everything no matter the season.
I was out and about early on Saturday and was rewarded with a performance by our local district pipe band. It was one of those beautiful mornings that make you even happier to be alive and well than usual. Clear blue skies, soft sun and the hint of a breeze. I don’t have any Celtic roots but listening to and watching the performance in front of me stirred something in my heart. I stood, clutching my bag of groceries and a cup of coffee, as if ready for battle. Brave, strong and clear headed.
Toddler SSG and I read The Very Hungry Caterpillar together at least once a week.  With each of his developmental leaps, Toddler SSG seems to be getting a little more out of story time.  We have a plush play set based on the fruits eaten by TVHC and it’s now become a little game to set up the fruit and caterpillar as we read the book.

And last but not least, one of my favourite things about daylight saving.  That extra sun softly shining through the back room at the end of the day when you’ve gotten home from work and the toddler’s asleep.  It’s the perfect place to do a little yoga.
