Just A Little Excited.

I’ll be the first one to admit that I’m just a little excited about going on holiday this weekend.
How else would you explain waking up at 6am on your day off to iron your pyjamas before putting them in your suitcase?  It being so important to be well turned out in the privacy of your own hotel room and all.  Speaking of hotel rooms, it would be a bit excessive to travel supermodel style and tuck a scented candle in a glass jar in my suitcase, wouldn’t it?  Thought so.

After that spot of dawn ironing, it was off to the bathroom to clean it.  Eventually.  There were products to decant first.  The potential disaster that would be not finding a hair mask in the greater metropolitan area of Orlando is truly too large to contemplate.  I bought these Manicare tubs at Priceline the other week.  Each set retails for $5.  There was some kind of buy two and save 30% deal going on at the time.  However, @mustlovepuggies on Instagram was telling me that there’s a bigger set including a spray topped bottle for $5 at Target.

After filling the cosmetic jars, it was on to the tricky business of filling the travel bottles without getting shower gel all over the tiles that I was meant to be mopping.

After all that housework and packing, I was ready to sit back and fall asleep with my eyes open at the hairdressers.

The clothing bit of my packing turned out to be lot easier than I thought it would be.  Polos in all their glorious permuations – tops, dresses, big ponied and little ponied.  With a few pairs of 3/4 length jeans and my silver Birkis, I reckon I’ll be good for the week.  At this stage, I look like I’ll be filling half a suitcase which leaves me two and half to fill when I get there.  Mr Joyce has set me a target of 96 kilograms and I fear he will live to regret the day he issued me with that luggage allowance.

It was tough deciding on the right hat to take but in the end, I decided on this very fetching visor.  It’s very ‘mom style’ (to go with my power stretch skinny crop Calvins), actually.  I bought it in Hawaii and despite (or because of) its appearance, it does keep the sun off your face and out of your eyes.  Come to think of it, it does have a very Florida look to it.  I’ll keep you posted as to how well I blend in with the locals by the pool.

Besides the packing, I’ve managed to tick quite a few other boxes off on my list today.  Confirmed my ride to the airport, know what I’ll be eating on the plane, hidden my US dollars in a very safe place and most importantly, got my data allowance sorted to prevent the bill shock that inevitably accompanies SSG abroad.

All I have to do now is to pray for the strength to survive Friday and to be there in mind and body.  Oh, and my shopping list.  I’ve so many presents to buy whilst I’m away and I’m looking forward to it.
