I’m Feeling Human Again. Dr Oetker Mug Cakes.

And on Friday, I woke up and rejoined the human race.
After days of walking around with my battery level hovering around the ‘please recharge immediately level’ (whatever that may look like on your particular phone), it felt positively glorious to suddenly feel less achy and sorry for myself today.  I frocked up, got my Red Phoenix Emporium on, artfully applied some of Hourglass’s finest on my face and strode out the door ready to face the world.  The world was ready and even got the planets of ‘Efficiency’ and ‘Going to Plan’ aligned for me as well.

It’s been lovely coming home to sunlight again.  We’ve taken to spending a bit of time in the garden once we get home before going inside to start our usual night time routine.  Preschooler SSG is currently obsessed with spraying our hedges to clean their leaves.

And we’ve dipped our toes into the world of mug cakes.  I know there are many good ‘from scratch’ recipes for mug cakes on the internet but the convenience of a sachet was too hard to resist.  Especially when it’s made in the kitchens of my good friend Dr Oetker.  These individual mug cake sachets are currently on sale for $1 at Woolworths.  There is a chocolate flavour as well as this banana one.

All you need to add to the mix is 20 ml of milk (I used 2 tablespoons full) and half a mashed banana.  Preschooler SSG loved making this practically ‘[by] myself’.
One minute later, and here is our ‘baked’ cake.  It basically tasted like a banana muffin.  The fresh banana made it taste much better than I expected it to.
Have you tried any of these mug cake mixes?  Any particular favourites?

It’s that time of the year again, my fellow parents.  Woolworths have just launched their new collector cards.  This year’s theme is World Explorers.

Looks like we’re all going to be back on packet opening, sorting and cleaning up duty for the next few weeks…

I’ll leave you with this photo of the latest incarnation of the Tim Tam.  A line has been crossed.  I can’t even….

Here’s to a lovely weekend ahead!  I’ve got a course to attend this weekend which I’m looking forward to mainly for the opportunity to sit for several hours in a darkened auditorium whilst being lectured to and showered with powerpoint slides.  The silence, the solitude, the transmission of information.  I want it all.

Talk soon.
