Lovin' Life 24/11/2016: Team Lah Lah. Watermelon.

I'm a huge fan of Lah-Lah's Big Live Band, the five piece band from Sydney who aims to bring the joy of live music to children and their parents.  I love Lah-Lah's wardrobe, I think Lah-Lah (opera singer Tina Kent) has a beautiful voice and I love the instrumental quartet who accompany her both musically and also through her adventures on the Lah-Lah television series.

I'm possibly a bigger fan than Preschooler SSG but I managed to persuade him to come with me to a recent show.

Ironically, we got pretty good seats (okay, spots on the astroturf) for this free concert yet I've never been able to buy tickets to Lah-Lah performances because they sell out so fast.

I won't lie, I was singing and dancing along with feeling.  The little ones had it over me when it came to the amount of energy they put into their dancing but I knew more of the lyrics.  We balanced each other out quite nicely.

The entire band also did a meet and greet after their set.  Complete with their instruments.

The double bass twirled and the accordion unfolded itself with extravagant sweeps through the air as the children got the chance to touch and play with the instruments.  It really was a lovely way to end the concert.

Do you have a love for a children's music group that your fellow adults struggle to understand?

I've also been loving life in my parallel adult world.

It's officially frock weather in Sydney.  I'm loving my Made590 shift dress.  It's the 'Everyday Style' and features front pockets, nothing too fussy at the neckline, roomy sleeves and hits mid knee on me.  Do you have this many desirable criteria for your work dresses?

I've fallen hard for summer fruit already.  The fridge is full of chopped watermelon and I'm going to make a start on my stash of perfectly ripened mangoes tonight after dinner.  Isn't a little box of cut watermelon from home one of those little things to love about this time of the year?

  1. Your visit to the Lah Lah concert sounds like awesome fun! Gotta love the energy of little kids too. I'm loving the summer fruits too - mango, berries, melon, grapes - love them all :) #TeamLovinLife

  2. I must admit I've not heard of Lah Lah and - sorry but I didn't click on the clip cos I'm sure it would leave me with an earworm all day! But I love the idea they're bringing quality music (and musicians) into kids' lives!

  3. This is the first I've heard of Lah Lah's Big Live Band - most likely because my kids are all grown! lol They look like fun though and it's always good if the parents enjoy them as well as the kids. BTW - I love watermelon too!! #TeamLovinLife

  4. I've not been introduced to Lah Lah by the toddler yet but I'm sure it's only a matter of time, hehe! :)

That's a really nice dress for work too! Most of the time I like the dual life of a working mum - you get to wear pretty dresses and have adult conversation when you work and when you're with your sons you get to be silly and carefree and live in the moment and dance away. It's a very blessed life to have :)

  5. Oooh that dress looks divine. You manage to accessorise so beautifully.
As for kids music, well, it was Wiggles all the way for the kids and I. I was the one singing all the words.
My fresh fruit fave right now is blueberries. Eating them like lollies!
I like watermelon but having to cut it up and get all drippy turns me off ...
    Thanks for linking!
See you again next week SSG :)

  6. I've never heard of Lah Lah's Big Live Band, but they sound like a whole lot of fun - if they can get adults dancing and singing along with feeling too, they've got it made! #TEamLovinLife

  7. I used to play the double bass in high school! I need to get some watermelon in my fridge - it's so refereshing on hot days (and it's just getting hotter around here!)
