A miscellany of life's small joys for this week's post.
Being at work during a heat wave with the air con up so high (or that should be down so low) that jackets need to be worn to keep your shoulders warm.
Discovering that Harris Farm's Imperfect Fruit taste even better than their buffed to physical perfection supermarket counterparts. My aunty found these apricots yesterday and they were delicious.
Having the planets of working mum life align. I bumped into a mum from preschool in the line for coffee at work the other day. We'd miraculously gotten through morning prep, drop off and the onward commute to work with plenty of time left over for coffee and a chat. Plus we'd managed to have both done so on the same day. So we made the most of it and sat down on a bench and had one of those lovely chats that was part getting to know you and part debrief. It was lovely being able to come away from our completely unscheduled meeting with a new friend who shares your perspective on this fun little journey / minefield that is shepherding your preschooler onwards to kinder. Here's to new mum friends!
And here's to road safety being applied to all who enter our car these days!

I certainly won't be buying fresh produce from Woollies after hearing they are importing it all from overseas. I love summer fruit and I'm getting my fill of sweet delicious mangoes at present, but I also buy from an independent fruit and veggie market.
ReplyDeleteWe're also trying to buy local fruits and veggies instead of is imported.
DeleteLoving the mangoes too this season, Kathy. I've had to be very selective of what I buy fruit and veg wise from Woolies.

Yay for new Mum friends- there's nothing better than making friends who are in the same boat :)

How lovely to meet some new mum friends. Meeting new people is harder when you get older. I don't have kids but I can imagine having other parents as friends would be great for playdates and to help each other out etc... #teamlovinlife
ReplyDeleteI don't think I saw any apricots this year and I agree food doesn't have to be perfect we should eat it the way nature intended. Have a great week! Sue from Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky to have those apricots, couldn't see too many of them at the supermarket either.

Haha I have a small roller esky that I take to the farmers markets on weekends and it gets strapped into the backseat!
ReplyDeleteI always forget! I have been using ice packs and fold up cooler bags. Hopefully will be more organized this year.

Love all your small joys for the week SSG. It's the little things that make our day, lift our spirits and keep us going isn't it?! :-) #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteSo true, Min!

I've had the odd meltdown because a dolly wasn't belted in properly before. Shame on me.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have a friendly social encounter (adult convo) amongst the crazy. Good for the soul x
I know, we should know better as grown ups, shouldn't we? :-PP

I like those impromptu get togethers...
ReplyDeleteThey keep us all going, I think!

Unexpected but wonderfully aligned catch ups are the best! :) It's good to have that little bit of encouragement in your day when you meet someone.
ReplyDeleteHope you're surviving with the heat! Aircon in the office is terribly cold but so appreciated to get through a heatwave I think!
We're coping, Mica. Hats off to all of you in Queensland. You've been dealing with it consistently for weeks now by the looks.

It's so nice when we take a moment and look at our day/week/month/life and find little things to be grateful for. Love that last pic of the car safe monkey :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Leanne. I can't help but smile every time I have to try and contain that purple monkey under his seat belt...

I laughed at the pic of the car safe monkey! Well done for bringing attention to a serious safety issue in a humorous way. Yay too for paying attention to the small things in our lives and being grateful for them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comments, Jo! Here's to another week of Lovin' Life and finding joy in the small things.

Loving all the summer fruit at the moment. I wouldn't have made it through the past 16 years of motherhood within my Mum friends - gotta love them! :) #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 16 years of successful parenting, Lyndall!

Nothing like making new mom friends who share the same common ground! My mom got grapefruit from one of our local farmers market the other day and they were huge and meaty. Hope the rest of your week runs smoothly.
ReplyDeleteI love grapefruit, Tracie! Especially ruby reds with a sprinkling of sugar.

Ahh the little things. Thanks for reminding me of the little things. I'm so caught up in the bigger stuff right now that I was forgetting to find the positivity in the small stuff. So unlike me ...

Now that I've found it, I'm going to work hard at keeping an eye out for these little things.
DeleteHere's to another week ahead of Lovin' Life, Leanne!

I love that you got to have a coffee with another school mum. It must be almost unheard of to have all of that together on the same day. Well played ladies. #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteThank you, kindly!

How brilliant is that?! Coffee, a sit down and with time to spare too. #LovinLifeLinky
