Lovin’ Life 9/2/2017: The Least Worst Case Scenario.

Keeping it short and sweet today.

The weather was pretty crazy around where I live on Tuesday.  Flash floods,  massive delays for public transport and buildings were under threat of collapsing as Sydney saw more rain in one hour than we did for the whole of January.  Bolts of thunder sounded more like bombs exploding and it was hard to believe that the lightening preceding them were forces of nature rather than technology.

I had just pulled into the driveway when that first bolt of thunder struck and was madly scrambling to open my umbrella as the rain began to pound down.  I opened the back door to the sound of rain dripping off the back shutters onto the floorboards and an ominous drizzle from the kitchen ceiling.  But none of the ceiling was actually on the floor and I had electricity (for wifi and the kettle) and running water (for a hot shower after I did the clean up).

I’m thankful that this was the worst I had to deal with when I got home.  That it was something a mop, buckets and lots of towels could handle.  That it was my day off so I only had to deal with it at 11am rather than at 6pm at the end of a long day at work with a hungry preschooler to bathe, feed and settle for the night.

The rain stopped by the early afternoon and suddenly it was just another Tuesday afternoon at home.  On my own and with a mountain of laundry to fold and personal admin to get through.

Have you found yourself thankful for only having the least worst case scenario happen recently?
