And we're officially signing out ahead of this long and much needed Easter break.
Preschooler SSG has dropped off his gift of chocolate eggs to his teachers and the support staff at preschool
and we've done our first frantic 6.30am on a Monday morning Easter bonnet craft project. It always pays to have an extra roll of double sided tape on hand to make sure things stick. I might look towards Etsy for next year's....
As a keen follower of Choice magazine's product reviews, I've stocked up on Coles' Choice approved traditional hot cross buns. Plus a half dozen chocolate ones as well. There don't seem to be as many creative flavours at the supermarkets this year. I was hoping to get some apple and cinnamon or mocha buns this year but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
It wouldn't be a 4 plus day (for me at least...) long weekend in Australia without some massive discounting by our local retailers. In a worrying development, I've already started shopping the sales. Lorna Jane had a 20% off tights promotion plus a free sports bag with a $300 spend. Actually, I don't feel so bad because the promotion has ended so I would have missed out if I'd waited until Good Friday to click 'buy now' on my virtual shopping cart. I wonder what the fate of my other shopping carts will be this Easter? Will everything in them get ridiculously discounted? Watch this space.
To delve a little more deeply into the Easter message before I sign off, the Christian origins of Easter relate to new life and new beginnings. I hope that in amongst all the catch ups, travelling and food of the next few days you get the chance to step back from it all and pause. To breathe, to reflect, to reconnect with your faith if that's applicable to you and to recharge.
Happy Easter!

Have a wonderful Easter and a great long weekend! Den xx
ReplyDeletePs the crown is awesome! (Speaking as a veteran shonky Easter hat maker for 2 kids).

Hope you and Preschooler SSG have a great Easter break! The only time the kids here get Good Friday off is if their Spring Break is the following week, but this year it was started St. Patrick's Day...sigh.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that Easter isn't an extended long weekend in the US, Tracie!! But hope you managed to have some chocolate and other good foods all the same. It's all we've been doing here for the last week.

Have a wonderful Easter break SSG! :)
ReplyDeleteI did do a big shop last weekend but couldn't find any hot cross buns, so we will be bun-less this easter! I have managed to get a chocolate egg each for the boys though, so at least that tradition is ticked off! :)
Yep, chocolate eggs are all you need for the little ones!
