Lovin' Life 6/4/2017: Fashion, Fruit and Flowers.

The highlights reel of one of those solid and productive weeks that get you closer to more exciting times.  We're getting closer and closer to the Easter break and my travel arrangements are finally looking close to being finalized.

Necklace - Red Phoenix Emporium, leather leggings - Scanlon and Theodore, twin set - Aldi.
I collected my leggings from the tailor this week and she did the most amazing job of shortening them and redoing the hidden zippers in each leg for such a reasonable price.  I have the lovely sales assistant at Scanlon Theodore for recommending her and she's so close to home as well.  Definitely keeping her details for future reference.

With the shorter days and cooler mornings comes all the excuse I need to whip out some new clothing purchases.  The good thing about being of a certain age (or close to it, the goal posts keep changing.. it's fortysomething if we have to be any more precise) is not feeling compelled to follow trends while also being able to justify quality over quantity.  There's also a sense of liberation, however, in being able to pair investment pieces with things you've found on the shelves of Aldi.

I've harvested my first crop of Indian limes and used them in my salad dressings already.  All that off season fertilizing has really paid off.

I always get a bit down in the dumps at the prospect of getting through autumn and winter without my favourite melons and stone fruit but that was because I'd forgotten just how delicious in season nashi pears are.  This isn't going to stop me from chasing those summer fruits while I'm away next month though.

I received these orchids as a lovely surprise gift this week and they're currently brightening up my office.  I'm in the process of reading up about how to care for it.  Do you have any tips?

  1. That orchid is gorgeous. Aaaah limes and salad dressings - I already miss the lime tree we left in Sydney...

  2. Yes the change in seasons does get one shopping! I have been busily shopping for our holiday to Italy which will be a similar temperature to here. A girl has to have new clothes for a holiday! :) #TeamLovinLife

  3. Gorgeous orchard!! Fantastic that you found someone who took up your leggings so well. As a 'shortie' finding someone like that is like gold as most things I buy need taking up! #TeamLovinLife

  5. I do love orchids, and yours looks lovely. However, I'm not very good at looking after them. Apparently you're not supposed to tip water into the pot, you spray the leaves with a spray bottle - or so I was told after I over-watered (and killed) mine! :( #TeamLovinLife

  6. Your orchid is beautiful! I have no advice for how to care for it though, sadly I have managed to kill multiple cacti so I really know nothing about plants, haha! My grandpa would be most unimpressed, he was a wonderful gardener.

I like the high and low mixing in your outfit too - not everything has to be expensive to make us look good or feel good! :)

Hope the rest of your week goes well.
