Lovin’ Life 4/5/2017: Canned Plums and Flu Shots.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s so much to love about winter food.  Soups, pies, curries and roasts but the fruit?  It’s all a bit of the same old same old.  The apples, pears, and bananas that we get year round don’t seem as enticing without things like watermelon and stone fruit to break up the monotony.  It’s a complaint that’s blatantly first world and trivial but it also happens to be the only gripe I’ve got with the world this week.  My solution to this problem is actually the topic of this week’s Lovin’ Life.

I love tinned or should that be bottled Satsuma Pluims.  I’m not that keen on fresh plums and I like prunes but tinned plums?  A solid 11/10 for me.  I’ve been eating them with my oats and yogurt for breakfast.  I love that they taste nothing like fresh plums, that their syrup tastes a little medicinal and also that rich deep muted purple colour they take on as part of the preserving process.  Canned peaches and apricots are a bit too sweet for me these days and canned pears a bit bland but canned plums are perfect.

Do you have a preferred canned fruit?

On other winter news, I finally got my flu vaccination this week.  It’s been on my to do list since Easter.  I also got this free badge and a lollipop for my troubles.

Has your workplace sorted you out with a flu vaccine this year?  Did you get a lollipop or a badge or both?
