The thing about good health is that you tend to take it for granted until it's unceremoniously taken away from you like how it was with the flu and I this weekend. I would have given anything to have my usual list of complaints to deal with rather than what I actually got dealt. The endless fevers, aches, nausea and tiredness didn't leave me any room to find the joy in life.
I'm cautiously hopeful that the worst of it is behind me now. I'm taking the day off work because the cough is still pretty bad. Fingers crossed, though, that I'll be back to normal by Wednesday and back control of my normal, everyday, illness free life as well.
How has this winter been for you? Were the flu gods kind?

So sorry to hear you've been sick with flu SSG! It's meant to be a particularly bad season for it this year. I'm very happy that I had my flu shot some time back. I hope it will stop me getting any nasties! Rest up and get well soon! :-) xo
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure if I had the flu (or, more accurately, a cold) on the weekend, so I spent yesterday on the couch with tea and soup anyway. I think I had just overdone it with house and yard work in the past week and it caught up with me. I hope it's not the flu; I've had enough of sickness this year! I hope yours passes quickly.
ReplyDeletehave you had a throat swab? Influenza is actually going around.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so sorry you have been ill and I can identify as last week I had a touch of pleurisy. I hate being sick and that feeling of helplessness. You are so right SSG that we take good health for granted sometimes. Sending you a big hug and best wishes and hope you are back to health and happiness soon. xxx

I've got today off work too with a horrible cough. There seems to be a lot of it around and it seems hard to get rid of completely!
ReplyDeleteI hope you recover fully quickly!

You poor thing! The flu sounds absolutely brutal this year. I rang my aunty the other day and my uncle answered sounding like total hell. Like he went 10 rounds with a steam train or something. Fell better soon xx
ReplyDeleteI had nasty strain of influenza at the end of June, which completely knocked me flat. For the first few days it was a struggle to get out of bed. Then the cough, tiredness, head ache and sinus pain huge around for about two weeks. It was almost a month before I was feeling 100% again. So,take care of yourself, take the time to recover properly, otherwise it will hang around for even longer.
ReplyDeleteI've been lucky enough to be skipped over by anything too serious - I think not having kids at home anymore really helps slow the bug sharing cycle. I'm glad you're feeling better - look after yourself because having a relapse would REALLY suck!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you've been so unwell SSG! It's a particularly bad season for it I think, this would be the first week that we aren't all sick (although we still have the horrible coughs) and I'm fairly certain the boys are coming down with something again given the way they were acting today. Looking forward to the end of winter!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are on the mend and back to yourself again soon!
There are so many things going around at the moment! Glad that you are on the mend. It does take a while to get back to your self so just take it easy where possible. xx
ReplyDeleteWe are all good this week but last week was hidious! Temps, coughs and lots of snot... not good!
ReplyDeleteThis has been a terrible season for flu all round and when it gets people such as yourself who have already been immunised it shows how nasty it can be. I am hoping by the time you see this that you have improved and are back at work. Not good being sick is it? Hate it myself. Thank you for linking up for #lifethisweek 32/52. Next week: Mindfulness.
