It's the last day of August today. It's also (finally), the last day of winter. I, for one, will be so glad to see the back of Winter 2017. It's been a long one full of illness and long, crazy days at work. Little things adding up by the end of the three months to make me feel a little weary and in desperate need of spring.
Spring brings with it a lifting of all those dark layers of clothing I've been wrapped up in over the winter. Lighter fabrics, more lively prints, bare skin and shoes that aren't sensible black.
The longer days make outdoor play more tempting and fun.
And then there's the stars of spring. The blooms.
They add softness to landmark buildings.
They make outdoor spaces more inviting.
Are you looking forward to spring?

I totally share your feelings about seeing the end of Winter!

We've had an easy winter - I'm hoping it doesn't translate into a very rainy summer. I've been told it was too warm and the garden is 'stressed'...
ReplyDeleteOh I love the print on the top item. Is it a skirt? It's lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love winter because I love the cold but it would be nice to have a bit more greenery. My yard seems to be dead and brown and I know it will return to that in summer when the dry hits but some flowers and greenery would be quite nice! #teamlovinlife
I love the print on that skirt. I noticed all the blossoms were out when I was down last week. As for the jacs - jacaranda season is always special in Sydney. #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I'm one of those people who love winter. Of course I live in Brisbane so our winters are mild. It is because our summers are unbearable. So hot and humid that you can't function. I barely survive summers. I love Autumn and Spring too. Just can not stand Brisbane summers! #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteI love winter SSG but our winter in Qld has been so mild I had to go to Adelaide to wear my winter clothes! I do love Spring though and the feeling of being reborn. Have a beautiful week. x
ReplyDeleteI am beside myself with joy that this is the last day of winter. However, I was informed last night, that September is the month where we will experience our heaviest rainfalls. I absolutely refuse to believe it. Joy sappers.
ReplyDeleteWhile you're in your last days of Winter, I'm heading into Fall State side. It's amazing how lighting and the colors of the season make something beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe thing about spring is Canberra is it is really really REALLY windy (and hayfevery). But other than that, Yes, I am looking forward to spring.
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt with the skyline. Gorg!
