Lovin' Life 2/11/2017: The Day Spa Life.

This might come as a surprise to you but I've never really seen myself as a day spa kind of girl.  A quick going over under the shower with a tub of body scrub, a pumice stone over my heels and a razor where needed before hopping out for a layer of sorbolene and Bob's your uncle.  But then I got that day spa gift certificate for my birthday back in August, the planets aligned two months later and I managed to book myself in for a treatment this week on my day off and I think I've already changed my tune.

It almost felt like I was wagging school or an afternoon lecture at uni when I arrived for my appointment.  The world was its usual lunchtime bustle outside but I had no choice but to leave the real world at the door once I sank into a sofa to wait for my therapist.  The quiet, the stillness and the soft lighting were so instantly calming that I'm wondering about the logistics of creating a 'spa entrance' corner in the house... somewhere.  Perhaps under the desk next to my yoga mat, straps, blanket and bolster?  That just might work.

My treatment room featured an extravagant wall of fluffy towels all perfectly folded and rolled.  I could admire walls of towels I had no hand in washing, drying or folding forever...

And then there was the treatment.  It's amazing the difference it makes when someone who knows what they're doing attends to your skin!  Who knew you could feel both relaxed and exfoliated after using a body scrub?  Plus have baby soft skin for days afterward.

The hour flew by but I definitely felt ready to face the world again with my new skin and clearer mind.

I had a bounce in my step and a grin on my face as I walked home.  In my post day spa bubble I was blissfully ignorant of the traffic, the slow pedestrian crossing light, the emails and messages waiting for me on my phone.  I've already planned the treatment I want next.  Now to find the time to make it happen over the next few crazy months in Sydney.

Or perhaps I should be more ambitious and plan a getaway for myself to someplace tropical and do nothing but have outdoor spa treatments until it's time to come home?

Do you day spa?

  1. I've never been to a day spa but I've had spa treatments - there's a company (although sadly no longer in Sydney!) that comes to your home, I found them when looking for pregnancy massage. You get the foot soak, the massage, the facial..and if you're me you're so relaxed you fall asleep for a bit, haha! Reminds me I better ask for another gift voucher for Christmas! :)

  2. Oh, that looks lovely.

I used to have regular facials or massages at a day spa when I worked full time previously but (visiting a beautician) was one of those things I was NOT allowed to do when working only part-time as I needed to be more careful with my money. When I got a regular part-time gig last year I started getting my eyebrows waxed again but now I'm full-time again I'm thinking I might be due for a massage or facial. Or perhaps both every few months! #teamlovinlife

  3. I think I'd like to like a day spa... but I also get restless when it's too quiet so I'm not sure. I'd be willing to try though haa.

  5. Ohhhh that looks sooo nice!! You are making me want a spa treatment right now! I rarely have them cos ... expensive ... but whenever I have they are just devine. That time out from the real world. The subdued lighting, soft music, being pampered and feeling fabulous at the end of it. It's wonderful! #TeamLovinLife

  6. I am partial to a day spa and being pampered from head to foot. My family sometimes treat me to a voucher which I'm truly grateful for. My favourite part of travelling to South East Asia is the affordability of day spa treatments. I have one almost every day! #TeamLovinLife

  7. I haven't been to a day spa for a long time, but have promised myself that when I get my business up and running I will make it a regular thing.

  9. If you do follow up with that spa getaway, dibs I come too!!!! Like Min I've never done a "day" spa - too expensive. I am however blessed to have a good friend who has a beauty salon next to her home, so I book in for regular back massages, and the occasional facial there at mates' rates :-) .
