Lovin’ Life 22/3/2018: Bonus Summer’s Days.

I love that I spent last weekend, the third of autumn 2018 in shorts and Havs.  As much as I’m looking forward to the new season with its promise of crisp mornings, evenings spent snuggling, hearty food and cool weather fashion – I love summer too and am relishing that we’ve been gifted these extra weeks of sun and warmth.
Master SSG and I spent 39C Sunday (as it’s come to be known to everyone in Sydney) at Watson’s Bay.
We snagged a sliver of that shade on the beach created by one of the Doyles restaurants.
I unfurled our picnic rug, slipped off my slides (Crocs, can you believe that’s who made them?) and felt my body temperature instantly drop several degrees as the breeze kissed my face and the cooling damp sand trickled through my fingers and toes.

Our patch of beach boasted the perfect kind of sand for hole digging, beach writing and tower building.

Every so often we’d join the water crowd as we raced each other into and out of the water.  Unfortunately, my land based running programme failed to convert in the water and Master SSG beat me in most of our races.

I know that this summer-like weather isn’t going to be around forever but I’m glad that we’ve been able to make the most of it these last few weekends by taking the ferry to some of Sydney’s most loved beaches.

It’s safe to say, though, that my love for Messina’s blood orange sorbet isn’t going to fade with my summer/autumn tan.  I can safely say that I’ll still be eating it into the winter.

How are you feeling about this extra long summer in Sydney?  Are you hoping, like me, that it’ll last through the Easter long weekend?
