Life This Week 3/12/2918: Taking Stock Ahead Of Christmas.

Making : a list and checking it twice.  It’s CHRISTMAS everybody!!!!!  Christmas.

Cooking : microwave mac’n’cheese with carrots and fancy butter to ease my mum guilt.  This is one of Master SSG’s favourite school lunches at the moment.  Remember way back in January when I made batches of muffins and pizza wheels for his lunchbox?  Those days are definitely behind us.

Drinking : too many mugs of tea (made with double tea bags).  They are so soothing but they also keep me up at night.

Reading: my favourite Christmas recipes ahead of my annual cookathon.

Trawling: TripAdvisor for ideas as I plan next year’s travel.  I’m already excited at all the places I could be going.

Wanting: this time of the year to last forever.

Looking: at the play area and how badly it needs to be decluttered before my parents arrive to stay.  Where do I even start?

Deciding: that I have enough stuff and hence don’t need to send Santa my wish list.

Wishing: that I’ll remember this when the post-Christmas sales begin.

Enjoying: all the light we still have in the evening now.

Waiting: for when it’s going to be perfectly okay to eat Stollen for morning tea with some shortbread.

Liking: more of the music Apple Music chooses for me than I thought I would.

Wondering: if four(!!) weeks will be enough to get all the Coles Christmas Little Shops.

Loving: Peppermint Cookie Lindor.  Gingerbread is a close second, though.

Pondering: the mains for Christmas lunch.  Nah.  I’m sticking to what everyone loves.  Christmas lunch is not a meal for experimentation for my family!

Listening: for the downpours that are expected to be hit with here in Sydney.

Considering: outfit options for work drinks.  I’m thinking of inventively knotting a caftan into a shrug top….. Hope it works.  I’ll let you know.

Buying: a gift for my Kris Kringle!!

Watching: Master SSG read The Bad Guys Part 4.

Hoping: that I booked all those air tickets correctly.  I have a deathly fear of getting the departure and arrival cities around the wrong way one of these days.

Marvelling: at Master SSG’s ceramic self-portrait.  But then again, I am a very biased and proud mum.

Cringing: at some of the Christmas decorations in the White House this year.  So open to satire…..

Needing: work to settle down already.  I just want a few days where I have time to stop for a moment.

Questioning: how I always manage to write on my pad of sticky notes the ‘wrong way up’ ie the sticky bar is always to the left or right of bottom of my writing and never the top.  Despite how well I label those pads.

Smelling: the fig perfume I just sprayed all over me.

Wearing: a thermal long sleeved top and tracksuit pants.  On the last day of spring.  Will we get a proper summer this year?

Noticing: that there is sun shining over the backyard so perhaps all is not lost about our forthcoming summer.

Knowing: that work will settle down for a bit in December.  I just need to keep the faith.

Thinking: about revising the timing of our trip to Japan next year.  July may well be too hot.

Admiring: the iridescent gift packaging that contains my Black Friday shopping from Mecca Cosmetica.

Getting: excited that my mum and dad will be here in 19 days!!!!!!

Bookmarking: biscuit and cookie recipes for Christmas.  I want to make them all.

Opening: work journals and actually reading them!

Closing: said work journals after reading two articles at a time.  My brain gets so easily overloaded these days.

Feeling: a little weary as the year draws to a close.  I’m looking forward to the change of pace over the holidays.

Hearing: the house creak in its joints.  There’s also a few droplet sounds too but no visible leaking.  Gotta be happy with that.

Celebrating: life as it is now.

Pretending: I’m not that excited about Christmas.  Ha!

Embracing: hairspray.  It’s key for the up-dos I’ve been sporting recently.  Up-dos + hairspray = bad hair days gone.
