Life This Week 5/8/2019: Gratitude.

This week, I am grateful for all the disparate things that make up an average week in my life.
A Sunday morning birthday party in the park for my nephew.

Finding a new friend nesting on my weights the other morning after my run.  This particular snake hisses when you press its head.  It scared the living daylights out of my mum the other day….

I couldn’t walk past these pencil lamps at Ikea the other day without bringing one home for Master SSG.  They can glow all the colours of the rainbow or stay on your favourite.  It just depends on how many times your press the power button.

I’ve found a more economical Australian made option to Queen’s Vanilla Extract.  At Aldi, of course.  I can’t wait to test it out in my next batch of baked oats.

There’s an abundance of US cherries at the supermarket right now and a bag or punnet comes home with me with alarming regularity.

I’m positively revelling in the way the sky is looking over Sydney these days.  We’re at that point in winter when spring is tantalizingly close.  And then it will be summer…. Swoon.

I’m grateful for the lead up I’ve had to this year’s City2Surf.  I’ve had more time on Heartbreak Hill than I had planned for.  A mixed blessing really because while I now have a healthy respect for it rather than hate it with a passion – I’ve done it one too many times now and I have a touchy left hamstring to prove it.  Whatever will be will be on race day so in the meantime, I’m enjoying the taper in my running distance and intensity as well as putting some serious thought into just which superfoods exactly will end up in my finish line bag of recovery essentials.

What are the random things you’ve been grateful for this past week?
