Life This Week 9/3/2020: Share Your Snaps.

This week’s snaps:

An eyelash curler someone thoughtfully put on the wall next the etrance to our work carpark.  Which leads to the question of how it came to be there.  I have full respect for anyone who can check let alone do their makeup in the car on the way to work.
Mardi Gras 2020 as observed at Westfield Bondi Junction.

We didn’t get the chance to watch the parade but from what I’ve read and seen in the media, it was the fabulous, proud, inclusive and inspiring evening it aims to be.

Just the kind of fabulous we do need at this time of the year in light of the bleak state of the world at large right now.
There was a time (in the olden days) when I had the time to bake for morning tea at work.  These days, however, my contributions are sourced from Coles.  These new Tim Tam flavours and savoury snacks sound interesting.  I hope they go down well at work.
I became a member of the library where I spend a great deal of time over the weekend with Master SSG.  I had no idea that you didn’t need to live in the local area in order to join!  I love the library in Waverley because it’s so user friendly.  There is technology but it’s not front and centre in the childrens’ area.  Instead, books are front and centre.  They’re arranged appealingly around play and loungeing areas, themed walls celebrate genres and authors, there are toys to share as well.  It’s so easy for children to browse and find something that piques their curiousity.

Autumn has arrived.  And so have the leaves I need to rake.

The mere promise of cooler weather in enough to see me cook heavier, richer dinners.  This steak was aggressively browned in my wok (so Asian, I know…) for Recipe Tin Eat’s delicious Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff Stew.

Browning key ingredients like the beef and mushrooms before popping into the slow cooker definitely helped get rid of that ‘slow cooker’ taste I often find when making meat based dishes inthe slow cooker.
Mixing that all important sour cream with some of the gravy towards the end of cooking before adding the mixture back into the pot seriously takes your chances of having the cream curdle down to zero.
The end result?  A comforting dinner full of the colours and tastes of autumn.
I’ve just realised that this week’s photos run the full spectrum of colour groups from monochrome, rainbow and then over to the orangey – browns.  I love this time of the year for this kaleidoscope of colour it gives us.
