With the light at the end of this COVID tunnel comes appreciation for the changes to my life that self isolation has brought. I've just had a week at home homeschooling and getting around to all the little jobs working through last week prevented me from getting around to. The weather's been mostly glorious. Cold in the mornings but glorious all the same.
It's been a busy but also nicely paced week for the little guy and myself.
Please find below this week's magic moments....
Getting to carry home the fairy wand after this morning's coffee run.
A fancy Friday night takeaway.
The first morning of my first week of homeschooling. The first rule of Zoom for users young and old? Business up top and comfort from the waist down....
The rain didn't rain on our parade (to our favourite cafe for coffee, hot chocolate and breakfast before school).... it provided the perfect surface for autumn leaf wet stomping
and puddle jumping.
Home learning has been less traumatic than I feared it would be. I still fail to appreciate what maths questions are actually asking. English still overwhelms me - the texts and topics seem so science-based which diverts my attention away from the key themes of spelling and grammar (neither of whose 2020 rebrand I fully understand). But it's been a joy seeing the passion the children have for the teachers, classmates and school - even in these strange and disrupted times.
This is my favourite moment of magic of the week. This is part of a set of Uno cards Master SSG made with his carers at before and after school care. The care and attention the girls imparted were well beyond their job description. They made it possible for that first week of term to be less stressful for me and more fun for Master SSG.
As we get closer to the light at the end of the COVID tunnel, what magic have you found in your life this week?

So much to love - a fairy wand, autumn leaves & those uno cards... have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI just read how living like a Dane will make you happier, and interestingly, a number of the things are what we've been forced to do under COVID. Def food for thought. Love the UNO cards!
ReplyDeleteGreat images and I love those UNO cards. Uno is a great game.
ReplyDeleteI love the fairy wand! You sound like you are coping Ok with it all, I really take my hat off to those at home trying to supervise children's school work and maybe work as well themselves. I love the joy and care teachers and students have shown throughout this period, it is hard work but hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel is getting a bit closer. My magic, good question, is reading in front of the fire with nowhere to go. #lifethisweek
ReplyDeleteThose are some lovely moments SSG. How lucky have we been with the weather!? Love the UNO deck created by Master SSG :) Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
ReplyDeleteWe've found so many new traditions that we'll probably continue with long after Covid... Eating dinner at the table, weekend family walks to new dog parks (and new cafes for coffee on the way,) weekly take aways and morning family walk before work for coffee. They're all little things but they make such a positive difference in our day. I just wished I had a fairy wand too!
ReplyDeleteThis looked like a pretty awesome week at home. One which will be remembered I am sure. Thanks so much for linking up for Life This Week. Next week, the optional prompt is 20/51 Share Your Snaps #4. 18.5.2020 and I look forward to catching you linking up there too. Warm wishes, Denyse.
